Thing 9 - Google Books
Browsing around Google Books I found this statement of their mission:
'Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful'. They also pay tribute to the libraries who have preserved the books and partnered with them to make the works accessible.
After getting over the little frisson of resentment and fear (hang on ... weren't we supposed to be the ones organising the world's information, making it accessible and useful?) caused by their mission statement I found I liked this tool. You might still have to go to your library to read the entire work not to mention filtering out the irrelevant and tangential 'possibilities' provided (always the issue of information overload ...) but the 'snippets' of in-copyright books are a helpful and time-saving way of filtering for usefulness and the searchability of the text is great.

Library Thing was easy and I added a few favourite books which you can see here http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Taragona. I did a mini-review of Brazzaville Beach - I don't re-read books usually but have read this one 3 times and the same exception applies to The Bone People (also in my Library Thing catalogue).

liscannor august wildflowers
These 3 photos were taken on a walk around Clahane Liscannor in August 2008, on a Summer day that was as balmy as this Spring day!
I enjoyed playing with Flickr and did it right after today's lunchtime talk which made everything go much more smoothly - thanks, Jane.

I set up a feed from this nice site http://creativeeveryday.com/
It's taking me a while to create a map in my head of what is linked to what but I trust that if I do it a few times, enough neural pathways will be created to make it all clear.
I'm so impressed by some other blogs - who knew our colleagues were so edgy and creative?
I'd like to start again and be edgy and creative.
